It started somewhere last year - after the TDF - with the muscular statement of "I would actually like to climb that bald mountain there in France"... and then the equally muscular "ok, but then from the 3 sides Hey, while we're there....." Quite some time later and with almost no preparation - which is not recommended - and not realizing what awaited us, we started it anyway. We are men of our word, so "en avant marche!!!" and so it happened. It was not an easy task for us as Burgundian (muscled) cyclists, but we still achieved our goal. It was with a lot of sweat and even tears because it really does something to a person when you have reached the top of that bald mountain. Up to 3 times! After all, giving up was the last thing we were going to do, even though there were sometimes moments with very strong doubts whether we were going to do it We are therefore very proud and also happy and grateful that we could and were allowed to do this together as friends. It only makes the friendship more beautiful and stronger; for which my sincere thanks, copain !! It should also be clear that I certainly was not the only one who, after a serious illness, was able to realize this challenge. There were several riders who were able to carry their "cross" to the top. I therefore like to dedicate this "suffering" to them and to everyone who supports us is dear and to whom the thought gave us extra strength to persevere to the top!!!

What started as a casual comment from our Scandinavian friends during their cycling holiday here in Spain turned into a warm and formal request to join this annual event for a 315km ride around Sweden's second largest lake. Since these people / friends are close to my heart and because their employer, BMS, focuses on research and development of medicines against cancer, among other things, I also saw it as a moral obligation to accept this challenge. It is still hard to believe that we completed this 315 km with more than 1800 altimeters and an average speed of almost 31 km/h around the lake with the whole group, but since it is on Strava it must be correct.
I couldn't wish for a better team to bring this assignment to a successful conclusion, because giving up was NOT an option because in our mind we did it for at least one person who had to deal with this terrible disease. The encouragement along the course, the help of the countless volunteers, the drive of this group made it extra nice to reach the finish line after more than 12 hours and gave me a lump in my throat and tears of happiness. In short, this was a unique experience, where I met wonderful people and enjoyed beautiful Sweden.

A big thank you to everyone who made this possible, it was a unique experience and give it a special place in my heart.
